Australia Clinches T20I Series with a Game to Spare by Defeating Pakistan
|Australia secured the three-match T20 International (T20I) series against Pakistan with a decisive win in the second game on Saturday, sealing the series 2-0. The Aussies triumphed by 13 runs in the match held at the Sydney Cricket Stadium. They had previously won the first game by 29 runs.
Chasing a modest target of 148, Pakistan’s innings collapsed at 134 runs in 19.4 overs. Usman Khan top-scored with 52 runs off 38 balls, including four boundaries and a six. Irfan Khan contributed an unbeaten 37 off 28 balls, while skipper Mohammad Rizwan managed 16 runs. Unfortunately, no other Pakistani batter reached double digits.
Australia’s Spencer Johnson delivered an outstanding bowling performance, claiming five wickets for 26 runs in his four-over spell. Adam Zampa picked up two wickets, while Xavier Bartlett took one.
Earlier, Australia batted first and posted 147 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Opener Matthew Short led the scoring with 32 runs off 17 balls, supported by Aaron Hardie with 28 off 23 and Glenn Maxwell with 21 off 20. Jack Fraser chipped in with a quickfire 20 off 9 balls.
For Pakistan, Haris Rauf shone with four wickets, Abbas Afridi claimed three, and Sufiyan Muqeem bagged two. The final match of the series will be played on Monday.
