Afghanistan vs PNG 29th Match ICC T20 World Cup 2024
|Group C is heating up as Afghanistan faces Papua New Guinea in their second-to-last match of the group stage. Afghanistan just needs a win against PNG to knock out New Zealand and secure a spot in the Super 8. On the other hand, PNG, having lost their first two matches, will be aiming for an upset.
Afghanistan kicked off their campaign with a massive 125-run victory over Uganda and then stunned New Zealand. Fazalhaq Farooqi and Rashid Khan shined with the ball, while Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran led the batting charge.
Papua New Guinea started their tournament with a hard-fought loss to West Indies. Their defeat to Uganda was especially tough, as they had reduced their opponents to 26/5 before a dropped catch shifted the momentum. Now, they’ll look to turn their fortunes around against Afghanistan.
The match will be played at the Brian Lara stadium in Trinidad. The pitch will assist the spinners but batters should be able to score runs if they spend some time at the wicket. A score of 160 should be par here given the slow nature of the surface.
