Michael Levitt Joins Kathmandu Gurkhas Ahead of NPL
|Netherlands batter Michael Levitt has arrived in Kathmandu to participate in the Siddhartha Bank Nepal Premier League (NPL). The Kathmandu Gurkhas, who signed Levitt for the tournament, confirmed his arrival on Sunday morning through their official social media channels. Levitt is the first foreign player to join the Gurkhas for this season.
In addition to Levitt, the Gurkhas have bolstered their lineup by signing several other international stars. These include Namibian captain Gerhard Erasmus, and English cricketers Stephen Eskinazi, Nathan Sowter, and Dan Douthwaite. Their presence is expected to provide a significant boost to the team’s performance.
The Kathmandu Gurkhas have also built a strong domestic squad, featuring players like Shahab Alam, Bhim Sarki, Rashid Khan, Shankar Rana, Krishna Karki, Deepesh Kandel, Sumit Maharjan, Raju Rijal, Vivek K.C., and Pratik Shrestha. Through a talent hunt program, the team identified Krishna Karki as their iconic player, highlighting their commitment to nurturing local talent.
The team will be coached by Basant Shahi Thakuri, with Karan KC leading as the marquee player.
The Siddhartha Bank Nepal Premier League, organized by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), is set to run from November 30 to December 21. The Kathmandu Gurkhas will kick off their campaign on December 3 against the Chitwan Rhinos.
With a mix of international experience and local talent, the Kathmandu Gurkhas are shaping up to be strong contenders in this year’s NPL. Fans eagerly await the tournament’s start, with hopes high for exciting cricket and memorable performances.
